The Holy Trinity Church

About the project

Since June 2017, through the efforts of the Vadym Novynskyi Foundation, a historical church in honour of the Holy Trinity, destroyed back in 1931, has been rebuilt in the centre of Kyiv on Troyitska Square.

The church was moved to this location in 1858 from Volodymyrska Street. During its lifespan, it was rebuilt, dismantled for bricks, and used as a granary. Before 2011, there was nothing there that could remind us of the church.

The Blessing and prayer of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy marked the beginning of the Holy Trinity Church’s revival. His Beatitude laid the first stone in the foundation of the church and consecrated the construction site.

The church is being restored according to the pre-revolution time design project of the diocesan architect Yevhen Yermakov, and on the apse side (a semi-circular ledge in the eastern wall of the church), the Trinity Church is supplemented with a four-storey building that will house a cultural and outreach centre.

Today, the most interesting part of the work, the interior decoration of the church, is in the project’s plan. We hope that soon it will be possible to resume the suspended work and share some photos of new transformations.

“Every church is a special place where the Great God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – is glorified. The human who builds an orthodox church glorifies God through it and gains great benefit for his or her soul,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy.
